Georgia has long been one of the few states nationwide requiring only 24 hour of continuing education credit for real estate license renewal. Throughout the country 36 – 60 hours and more have been the norm for quite some time. The Georgia Real Estate Commission ruled in the fall of 2014 that Georgia continuing education hours will increase from 24 – 36 hours on July 1, 2015. Thereby allowing ample time for agents to obtain the additional 12 hours of CE credit needed if their licenses are due for renewal after July 1, 2015.

It is not when your license renewal is due, but when you renew.

Meaning if you renew your Georgia real estate license early, prior to June 30, 2015, you will be able to renew with 24 hours CE credit hours furnish to the Commission.  The GREC allows Georgia real estate licenses to renew their license up to 4 months prior to the due date of license renewal. What that means is; if you renew early before June 30, 2015 you will be able to renew your license with 24 hours of CE credit. If you wait until July 1, 2014 or later you will be required to furnish to the Commission evidence of satisfactory completion of 36 instructional hours of CE during the renewal period. The last due date possible for early renewal with 24 hours CE credit will be September 30, 2015. If your renewal date falls in June, July, August or September 2015 you can renew your license early, meaning prior to July 1, 2015, using 24 hours of CE credit. When you Renew Online you will save $25 on your renewal fee making it $100.
